Airports Açorianos with about two million passengers in 2007
The movement of passengers in the nine airports and airfields Azorean increased 4.4 percent in 2007, compared to the previous year, to around two million shipments, direct landings and passer.


According to data of the National Statistics Institute, INE, this increase was accompanied by a rise of 4.2 percent in the number of landings of aircraft in the region, which reached the past year, a total of 16,869 (compared with 16,188 in 2006).

In terms of freight and mail, a more modest increase, 0.7 per cent, to 14,798 tonnes.

Data from INE reveals, too, that the aerodrome of Corvo fói that, in the Azores, has registered a higher increase in the number of passengers moved in 2007 (18.9 percent), followed by Lajes (8.4), of St. Jorge (4,2), Santa Maria (3.9) and John Paul II (3.4 percent).

The airport of the island of St. Miguel handled, last year, 941 thousand passengers in the island Third, the second most sought from the Region, 482 thousand
