Brazil: Trade with Portugal grew 59.5 percent in January [2008-02-26]


Brasilia, Brazil, Feb. 26 - The trade between Brazil and Portugal grew 59.5 percent in January compared to the month counterpart of 2007, according to data released in Brasilia by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC).

In the period, the two countries registered trade valued at 201.6 million dollars, with Portugal to have sold 3.1 million dollars (76.5 percent more) and Brazil has exported products valued at 168.5 millions of dollars (plus 56.6 percent).

Although the percentage growth in the month was greater in Portuguese exports to Brazil, in absolute terms the Brazil sold more, which means that the imbalance of Luso-Brazilian trade balance continues to worsen in favor of Brazil.
