The region of Rio Maior should receive a future season of high-speed trains. The alternatives to the station's Ota - abandoned following the option of Alcochete to the construction of the new airport - have begun to be studied, found the Morning Post source from the sector.

The route of the high-speed network between Lisbon and Leiria began to be reviewed once the government has changed the location of the new airport for Alcochete, making unnecessary the station in Ota. It is recalled that the original route was changed in order to serve the high-speed airport of Ota.

With this amendment, it became necessary to find another location for the station, now Rio Maior emerged as the best solution.

The project should be discussed tomorrow at the meeting of the government with the mayors of the West as part of the compensations to the region for the loss of the airport, a promise made by the prime minister, who admitted that "the region of Ota paid a price in recent years ".

The mayors of the West and those of Azambuja, Santarém and Cartaxo and representatives of various ministries have meanwhile held weekly meetings in order defining a set of investments to the region. One of the proposals submitted to the Government is to create access to the new airport in the field of Shooting of Alcochete.
