Will Tome and Principe: Portuguese Pestana Group conducts flights "charter" for the archipelago

Portuguese group Pestana will perform between June and September flights "charter" weekly between Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe to monetize their investments tourism in the islands, said Friday in a Sao Tome responsible of the group.

In statements to Macauhub, the commercial director of the group in Sao Tome and Principe, Ricardo Rodrigues, said the air operation is the basis of a partnership with five established tourist operators Portuguese tourist, and the company EuroAtlantic which is responsible for providing the aircraft for the links.

Rodrigues said that the flights will have held on Monday from June 9 until next September 14 between Lisbon (Portugal) and São Tomé (Sao Tome and Principe) via a Boeing EuroAtlantic type of "757 to 200", with capacity to carry 190 passengers.

The group hopes Pestana put about two thousand tourists are in the territory-tomense through this operation to essencilamente monetize their investments in the tourist archipelago estimated at more than 35 million dollars in ventures hoteliers in management and in construction.

Having argued that the initiative is also as a way to avoid shortage of flights that is recorded in the summer season in the islands because of the holiday period, Ricardo Rodrigues stressed that "the group Pestana stands to gain as well as the country itself."

In addition to a hotel in construction of five stars of 115 rooms, whose inauguration it is expected to next June, the group has a hotel unit of four stars in the city of Sao Tome, with 65 rooms, which joins the management of a another four stars with 70 fours, located on the island of Rolas, 100 kilometres from the capital of São Tomé
