Portugal: Portuguese economy grew 1.9 per cent in 2007 [
Portuguese economy grew 1.9 per cent last year, recording the highest rate of annual growth since 2001, according to data released Thursday in Lisbon by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In the Quick Estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the INE says that the growth of the Portuguese economy has reached 2 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, compared with same period in 2006.
This development represents an acceleration of 0.3 percentage points the rate of growth compared with the 1.7 per cent registered in terms counterparts, in the third quarter of 2007.
In annual terms, the growth rate of 1.9 percent reflects an acceleration of 0.6 percentage points compared to the registered in 2006
