Macao: Government launches tender for the construction of the advice light rail

government of Macao International selected seven companies to submit proposals to assist the first phase of the construction of the light rail that should be completed in 2011, it was announced Thursday.

With a length of 20 kilometres, the light rail to cost around 4.2 billion patacas (525 million dollars).

The Office for Infrastructure and Transport (GIT) of the government of Macao selected European companies Consulgal, Portugal, Egis Rail, France, Movares Nederland BV The Netherlands and the Setec of France.

The GIT also invited the CPG Corporation of Singapore, MRT Corporation of Hong Kong and Lea + Elliott of the United States.

The seven companies must submit by April 25 proposals to prepare the plan of action regarding the tender for the award of construction of the light rail that will assist the government in managing the project.

Set in 23 stations to connect the area das Portas do Cerco, the land border with mainland Chinese, and the area of the Pac On, on the island of Taipa, near the Macau International Airport, through the city centre, the first phase of light rail will be built in high shelf.

The light railway will operate in automatic form (without driver), you can achieve a rate of three minutes per station and, in each direction, will have a maximum capacity of transporting 152 thousand passengers a day.
